Whole Home Remodel Opens Floor Plan

In Atlanta, it is common to find homes built with the traditional "five, four and a door" configuration. What is this you may ask. Simply stated, it is an architectural style where the main section of the home has five windows symmetrically aligned across the front of the second floor, while two windows flank either side of the entry door on the first floor. Although there are some variations, the interiors of these traditional homes are fairly consistent. The first floor is typically compartmentalized into four living areas centered around the foyer, front stairs, back hall, powder room and basement stairs. All the bedrooms are generally found on the second floor with a hall bath serving the secondary bedrooms, while the master has its own, relatively small bathroom.

As needs have changed, new home construction in Atlanta has trended towards more open floor plans. Weidmann helps owners of older residences to investigate and achieve these same open objectives by consolidating and reconfiguring the available space on both levels. This Atlanta home was opened up with a little creative organization, which included relocating the powder room, changing traffic patterns and repurposing rooms for a renewed lifetime of living.
