Wicker Park Two-Flat Single Family Gut Rehab - Basic Bath
Formerly a three-flat apartment building, this newly designed single-family home was a complete gut rehab project. After taking the original building down to its bare studs, we were able to begin designing a brand new floor plan.
The first floor was created as an open-plan design, so in order to define one room from another, we implemented different shapes in each area’s ceiling tray. These unique ceiling accents were able to create distinct boundaries for the kitchen, dining room, and living room without a feeling of disconnect, which walls tend to create.
The second story consists of a master suite, a nursery, and the kid’s bedroom and bathroom. The aim of the kid’s bathroom was to go with a high-intensity, low maintenance look. To keep this space fun, we used bright, eclectic colors, such as the blue tile, that would contrast nicely with glistening white, high-quality European tile. The choice of mostly white in this bathroom was to make sure this bathroom would have a clean and pure look, but the fun colors make it perfect for the kids.
The master bathroom ended up with a beautifully unique and lavish design. The ultra-wide rain shower was completed with frameless glass doors, an arched accent shower niche, and mosaic marble tile for the niche, shower bench, and floors. To complement the marble’s subtle green coloring, we added a vanity with marble countertops and cabinets custom painted in a rich green color.
Finally, the basement was designed to be the perfect getaway haven with a guest bedroom, bathroom, wet bar, and spacious living room.
This home was designed to fit the whole family’s needs and more, and their luxury dream home was truly created.
