21st Century American Colonial

This client was very hands on and selected pieces that were incorporated into the kitchen. They did a lot of the work themselves and wanted to use a professional for their final cabinet design and layout and execution.
The challenge was to utilize every inch of space in this kitchen for maximized storage, functionality and overall aesthetics. We ended up using an old chest for the island - it was narrow and long enough to fit in the kitchen and provide storage and workspace without interfering with the walkways.
They loved their antiqued rehabbed doors for their pantry so much they bought another set for their laundry room door. The hood was purchased online and painted black matte to give the illusion of a metal hood. This fit more within their budget and turned out beautifully!
The old doors and furniture island - along with the classic marble countertops, white subway backsplash and new shaker style cabinets - brought out a very custom American Colonial style design. Their kitchen now compliments the rest of their home and their love for old American furniture, decor and memorabilia.
