The clients’ original scope of work included a full remodel of the master bathroom and closets. This included replacing everything in the space and enclosing the French doors in the bathroom (that opened to the front of the home). They mentioned their recent trip to Africa, and how they used outdoor showers during their safari overlooking over the beautiful land and animals. We decided we wanted to recreate the ‘Florida Version’ as much as possible while staying indoors.
One of the initial challenges was enclosing the French doors in the bathroom that opened to the front of the home. We were not able to get an exact match on the brick of the exterior of the home, and the doors were so large, the facade of the home would change drastically, and not what the client wanted. We were able to find a solution to keep the doors on the exterior but to enclose them from inside the bathroom.
The tile work is a big feature of this design. The selections were made with our original inspiration of the outdoor shower in mind. The plumbing wall tile has lots of blue tones which we used to create a waterfall feel; the pebble stone floor added to that effect. The backsplash tile pulled everything in the space together, and helped created a beautiful backdrop for the vanities, mirrors, and lighting.
