The original scope from the client included expanding the kitchen into the existing formal dining area and opening walls between the entry area and the kitchen, family and hallway areas.
This is a condo, so the biggest challenge was to work around the water drain and chase corridor between units on the new island area. In addition, the entry area ceiling height was different than the rest of the unit making it a challenge to try to tie these two areas together for a seamless look.
The result is a kitchen that is double the size of the original, which is great for entertaining. By opening the entry area that was wasted footage, it makes the unit feel larger and more spacious.
