These Boise North End clients came to us as a mother and daughter team with the hope of creating a separate home for the mother on the same property. The old garage would not support a 2nd floor and was not currently big enough for the family vehicles, so we tore it down and rebuilt a new 2-car garage with an ADU above. It was important to make sure the new building aesthetics matched the age and design of the 1935 home. There was also a major focus on the need of privacy for both the existing family home and the new mother’s suite. We carefully considered the design and layout to provide visual privacy but also to allow for lots of natural light.
