Before & After: Column Replacement

We replaced the original wood columns with aluminum columns on the new porch, and covered the overhang with new vinyl soffits that matched the color of the siding so that the ceiling would never need painting again. The homeowners were pleased with all of the work that was done. Hope to see them again in the future!

We have worked on this Troy home a few times before. The homeowners got tired of the wood columns as they rot from the bottom up thanks to the columns being placed directly on concrete (the wood columns wick the moisture from the concrete).

We tore everything down to the footing and installed new bricks and got this porch prepped for a new concrete slab.

There was no header on this porch to carry the weight of the roof...so we took care of that by opening the plywood soffit and slipping a concealed header to carry the weight of the roof.

One of the Aluminum columns was unsuable so we had to wait for a new 16' column to be shipped...the porch had been rebuilt.

All better...we installed all 4 aluminum columns on the new porch.
