This modern kitchen design was driven by an existing brick fireplace that was at the back wall of the house, and the new kitchen addition now wraps around the fireplace volume. What was the old kitchen is now a Butler's Pantry area with prep sink and much needed lockers for shoes, coats, and backpacks. A wall hung Morso wood stove is on the back side of the chimney volume, in the new kitchen, with a tiled surround. Obscured clerestory windows above the stove provide southern light while maintaining privacy from the neighboring house. New sliding french doors on two sides of the addition open up to an expansive deck and back yard area.
