Contemporary Universal Design for a Master Bath

We remodeled this master bath for retired clients living in their "forever condo" and looking ahead to potential future accessibility needs. They wanted a contemporary aesthetic and increased storage, and they favored a vibrant shade of blue.
We collaborated on this project with designer Ron Scolman. It won a COTY award in Residential Universal Design from MN Chapter NARI.

The new contemporary cabinetry was designed in the style of the clients' master bedroom furniture.

The cabinets beneath the sinks feature knee holes with pocket doors that can be retracted for future wheelchair use.

The combination whirlpool and air-jet tub was chosen for therapeutic purposes. Custom painted light fixtures on the flyover provide ample lighting. The three-dimensional butterfly art piece mounted on the wall defines the bathing area.

We added more storage units in the bathroom and installed roll-out shelving in them for easy accessibility.
