Traditional Kitchen with a Bit of Belize

This country French style home was treated to a stunning remodel giving the homeowners a beautiful and functional space for entertaining. The renovated kitchen opens to the dining room and connects seamlessly to the deck by a new patio door. A combination of dark maple and painted cabinetry with granite and quartzite countertops, marble and glass backsplashes, handmade glass hardware and Brazilian cherry floors lend to the elegant but casual feel. This project won a local and a regional NARI Contractor of the Year award for residential kitchens $75-90K, was featured on the Remodelers Showcase and in Midwest Home magazine, Kitchen and Bath Design News magazine, Chicago Tribune/Triblocal Desplaines, and Florida Coastal Real Estate Guide.
To create sightlines and open space for entertaining, the wall between our clients’ kitchen and dining room was demolished, the central staircase was opened, and a patio door to the back deck was added. With the wall between the kitchen and dining room removed, the new dining room is now completely open to the kitchen but is defined by dark maple cabinetry and a two story ceiling.

The cooking alcove includes a gas cooktop and black granite countertops, and is defined by white marble and recycled glass backsplash tiles. Custom blue glass knobs and pulls accent the white painted cabinetry.

The toekick detail evokes a furniture style and is easy for maintenance. The blue glass cabinet pulls are custom.

The adjoining laundry room also got a face lift. A tall cabinet salvaged from the original kitchen was installed and painted blue along with the existing laundry cabinets and a new wood counter top and tile floor were added.
