In 1858, Emily Jones tore down an old house in Manhattan and erected a new five-story Italianate-style store-and-loft building with a stunning sandstone façade. The building's second through fourth floors are adorned with diadem-like carvings above the windows. Today, the building houses less than 10 apartment units above a storefront. George Ranalli Architect helped one owner realize their dream of having an en suite master bathroom. This was achieved by raising the bedroom floor to accommodate new plumbing and converting an old utility closet into a beautiful new master bath. The surfaces are finished in Bianco Carrara polished marble offset by black velvet Nero Marquina dots in a basket-weave mosaic. Polished nickel accessories complete the sophisticated look of the space.
