K-Loft NYC

George Ranalli Architect's project for a live/work loft is a masterful example of preserving the grandeur of an old factory space while adapting it to the needs of a modern family. The design ingeniously places bedrooms, bathrooms, and a kitchen around an open space for living and dining. Two separate studios for sculpture and printmaking provide ample room for artistic expression. Habitable forms define space beneath the vaulted brick ceiling, creating a feeling of intimacy and warmth. The honey-colored palette of custom-made cabinets, doors, and transom windows adds to the soft, functional atmosphere. The project includes modern lighting design and orientation to existing windows to capture the appealing lighting effects. The bedrooms feature Floating Beds and bedside tables by George Ranalli DESIGN. The K-Loft project has been widely acclaimed and featured in more than 20 architecture publications, including "Houzz Tour: Geometry and Art in Chelsea: Loft remodel leads to innovative ways with walls, light, and space," by Vanessa Brunner, HOUZZ Editorial Staff.
