Loft Apartment Combo Renovation

George Ranalli, a renowned architect, successfully restored and repaired the exterior of an 1889 factory located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Originally built by James J. Coogan, former Borough of Manhattan President, the old factory's exterior had deteriorated due to age and painted surfaces. The restoration services included repairing the exterior masonry and brickwork, as well as the decorative elements, giving the building a new lease on life.

In addition to the exterior restoration, the interior of the building underwent a complete transformation for residential reuse. The architect provided redesign services for multiple unique apartments, combining previously separate units and creating new layouts that capture natural sunlight and views through original, Oakwood framed windows. The soaring ceiling heights were utilized to insert habitable forms that delineated bedrooms, baths, kitchen, and dining spaces. The design also incorporated hidden storage and other functional amenities.

This particular apartment project has been featured in The New York Times, New York Social Diary, and numerous architecture-and-design publications. The unique combination of preserving the historic exterior while creating modern, functional living spaces has made George Ranalli's work on this project a standout achievement in the field of architecture.
