Greenwich Waterfront Shingle

This late Shingle Style Residence offers impressive views of the Long Island Sound. The stone base, painted blue shingle upper story and hipped natural shingle roof create a distinctive composition reminiscent of an architectural precedent nearly one hundred years old. Paired Tuscan columns add formality to the graceful front porch while a dynamic wood trellis links the home to the outdoor living space and pool beyond.

The overall form was established to ensure all rooms capture views of the Long Island Sound. Special attention was paid to the custom designed interiors that continue the waterfront Shingle aesthetic. Generously sized rooms afford water views and are rich in character, from the cherry-paneled Drawing Room to the wood beamed ceiling of the Family Room. The Living and Dining Rooms feature subtly elegant paneling and decorative plaster mouldings. Paneled bay windows project onto the casual terrace beyond.

The Master Bedroom provides a sophisticated getaway with a gracious Study, classic mirrored and paneled Bathroom and a private rooftop perch tucked into a vaulted patio. Five additional bedrooms feature custom mouldings and finely detailed baths. The beadboard- and wood-clad lower level recreational space provides a casual chic departure from the upper levels, complete with built-in bunk beds, a banquette and requisite bar.

This masterful use of forms, textures and material create a quintessential form that will remain fresh for generations.
