Mac-Groveland Duplex

As sisters co-owning a duplex for many years, our clients felt it was time for a kitchen remodel—their kitchens were cramped, outdated, and secluded from the rest of the unit. They both wanted an efficient open floor plan that would fit the character of the house. To save on design costs the sisters decided that each kitchen layout would be the same, with an identical floor plan and appliances. In the end, they decided to knock out the walls separating the kitchens and dining rooms, but desired an aesthetic unique to their individual personalities.

The upstairs kitchen has a more traditional aesthetic and features granite countertops and cream cabinets with a green beadboard backsplash, while the downstairs is more contemporary in style and features blue subway tile, gray soapstone countertops, and a combination of blue and white cabinetry.
