This 100 year old home in Minneapolis had a lot of charming details, but the original kitchen which had been modified over the years was not up to modern standards in both function and design appeal. Several doors coming into the room and a porch window posed a huge challenge to the already small footprint. My client's desire was to not only add function, but to create a more open concept that would allow for informal seating and a connection to other spaces. We designed a plan that opened the wall to the dining room and pushed the kitchen into the back porch. This opened up the space and made a more usable footprint. The woods and finishes we selected are suited to the charm and character of their 1-1/2 story home.
