We were asked to make some landscape improvements to a recently completed house. The boulder wall was existing but we felt that it needed reworking to make the entrance to the front door and porch more inviting. Some of the boulders were removed and we opened up the entrance. Large solid one piece stone treads and flagstone pavers were laid leading to the front porch and door. Along the outside edges of the flagstone paths, we added low growing plants like Thyme, Phlox and Hen's & chicks, this very quickly got established. More rock garden plants were added to cascade over the large boulders and some were planted between the rocks. In the main planting areas, a colorful display of perennials was chosen to make a dramatic 'Welcome Garden'. New tree and shrub planting plus a dry and wet stream with waterfalls plus a fire pit were also added to truly make a fun outdoor environment.
