The Brightest White

Even though the previous kitchen had white cabinets, the transformation to bright white cabinetry, countertops and painted walls made a huge impact in this once cramped kitchen. By rearranging the configuration of the space, the functionality of this traditional kitchen along with adjoining spaces has vastly improved.
Here are some of the highlighted features of the new kitchen:
- Eliminating an eat-in kitchen area and having countertop seating around a semi-circular peninsula that creates a great spot for overseeing the entire kitchen.
- Creating outdoor access from the kitchen to the backyard.
- Double pantries are situated away from the main work triangle. There is landing space between these tall cabinets for perusing the cookbooks stored above in open shelving.
- Bumping the kitchen 24” into the existing garage to gain more cabinet space and create an enclosed mudroom.
- Relocating the garage door, to allow space for the small mudroom/laundry room.
- Mudroom with concealed storage and a custom bench for storing personal belongings.
- Stackable washer and dryer unit to take up less floor space.
- Raised-panel cabinetry in the brightest white, quartz countertops with grey veining and a white subway tile backsplash.
- Plenty of concealed storage for small appliances, television and chargers.
- Making the range more of a focal point in the kitchen.
- Spice storage with routed finger pulls, below the custom wood hood.
The elements in this fresh kitchen allow the homeowners to decorate with their royal blue dishes, keeping with the nautical color scheme found throughout the remainder of the house. By bringing the kitchen up to-date and replacing the hardwood flooring on the first level, the spaces now flow freely throughout the entire house.
