The homeowners are well into their 70s, and as the heads of their family, entertain large groups of people frequently. Having lived in their NE Portland home since it was built in 1968, they felt it was time for an update. They were looking to update the worn out cabinetry and other materials, improve the work flow, allow for entertaining without congestion, and widen the space between the kitchen and dining room.
