Arlington Townhome Remodel

Our clients returned to their rented townhome after 18 years abroad to find it desperately in need of updates. We remodeled the home top to bottom and gave it a fresh new transitional feel. The rick dark color of the newly-stained floors and stairs coordinates beautifully with the simple yet striking finishes in the kitchen, living room, master bath, etc. The updated space features all new lighting, paint, tile flooring, a completely new kitchen, and completely new baths.

The front door received a new coat of paint and new brushed-nickel hardware to replace the dated brass handleset. The result is a cohesive updated look throughout the home.

The existing oak stairs in the townhome were unexciting and looked cheap. A new dark stain on the treads, risers, and the rest of the floors is set off beautifully by the newly-painted white balusters.

The mini drum fixtures at the front entry and in the lower level hall coordinate with other drum chandeliers found throughout the home.

The new townhome kitchen extends from the living room at the front of the house nearly to the bay window at the rear. The expanded space features a large island with storage on each end, drawers for all the plate storage, and a large pantry cabinet at the far end.

Grey paint on the walls and off-white cabinetry refresh the previously dated space. A glass mosaic backsplash creates a focal point, while a uniform Silestone countertop keeps things simple and contemporary.

While the open are at the rear of the townhome is meant for a dining space, the clients placed 2 armchairs here to take advantage of the fireplace and views to the backyard (not shown). Seating space is available for stools at the island if need be.

The fireplace received an updated tile surround to match the adjacent kitchen finishes, as well a new wood mantel and surround for a traditional, finished look.

The remodeled townhome features an open floor plan. The sitting area at the rear of the house (not shown) flows into the kitchen, which flows into the living room, which is open to the 3-level stairwell.

While the step between the kitchen and living room remains, the railing between the two was removed for an open feel. The rich new hardwood color, grey walls, and plantation shutters add a touch of class to the "new" space.

The hardwood flooring and and stairs throughout the townhome were all redone in a rich, dark brown stain. At the top of the stairs a previously too-deep linen closet was cut back to make the space feel larger.

A cramped master bath was opened up with a larger glass shower and coordinating tile throughout the space. New countertops, lighting, and a large mirror enhance the space even more.

The fenced back yard was originally overgrown and bland, but flagstone, plants and a dry "rock pool" were added to create a mini oasis.
