One of the things we love most about being a home remodeler is working with wonderful clients, and this Reston couple was no exception! They took really good care of our team and treated us like part of the family during their main level remodel. Although we’ll miss the cookies and cinnamon buns they made and we truly relished the time in creating new spaces for them to enjoy, we are delighted with the results of their home remodel and hope they’ll enjoy their new spaces for years to come.

We started in the Kitchen, where darker wood cabinets and a brick wall dominated the space. Although the Kitchen was in good shape, it was time to lighten things up and create a welcoming and calm transitional space. Creating more of an open feeling with a view to the beautiful yard was a priority, so we installed new windows allowing natural light to flood the space and providing a less obstructed view of the backyard birds and squirrels!

Tired of carrying heavy loads of laundry up and down the stairs (and thinking of aging in place considerations), our clients wanted to move their laundry to the second level. The previous laundry room was transformed into a perfectly sized Pantry off the Kitchen with a pocket door.

The changes didn’t stop there. In addition to repainting the Family Room, we painted the red brick fireplace and added built-in bookshelves on either side for an updated look. The Entrance Hall, Formal Sitting and Dining Rooms also all got makeovers. Striped wallpaper in the Hall was removed, all of the rooms were repainted in modern, fresh colors and new light fixtures were added to complement the other finishes throughout the main level (not shown).
