This project was a custom kitchen remodel in an existing Berkeley 1930's era house. Three rooms were combined to make one larger kitchen suitable for family living and entertaining. The owner wanted to create a new kitchen that would look like it belonged in this traditional era house. She was an artist and did not want any upper cabinets so we convinced her to include a wall of cabinets that extended from floor to ceiling to make up for the lost storage. We also suggested a table instead of an island. We thought the table would provide provide a more informal gathering place in the center of the kitchen for the kids doing homework, casual eating and just hanging out.
