This project consisted of converting an existing basement area into living space. A new master suite was developed along with a new family room and laundry. A new stair was designed to connect the two levels of the house. Great care was taken to integrate the basement with the existing space. The stair was designed to look like it was part of the original construction of the house. Careful attention was paid to waterproof the basement properly. Also there was much attention to designing the foundations and other structural elements so that they would disappear into the walls. The owner didn't want the new lower floor area to feel like a series of basement rooms.
