Brill Home Remodel

The client came to us wanting to rearrange their floor plan to create space for a large open concept kitchen that would replace their existing, non-functional galley kitchen. They also didn’t like the garage entrance into the kitchen. They thought a mud room would be nice. The second issue was their need for a laundry room on the main floor. Their third issue was that the three season family room was not integrated with the rest of the home. And fourth, each room was distinctly separate, not allowing an open atmosphere for entertaining.

The Solution:
- Transform the kitchen into a laundry room, mud room, and pantry.
- Create a large, open kitchen and dinette area in the space that contains the
dining room and den.
- Relocate the dining room to the unused formal living room.
- Incorporate the three season family room into the rest of the home with these
modifications:
- Removing the sliding doors between the dining room/den and family room
- Enlarging the openings into the new kitchen/dinette
- Raising the floor to the same level as the rest of the house
- Removing the brick on the family room wall
- Installing a new exterior door
- Insulating the walls and ceiling
- Tying in the HVAC system to the three season family room
- Installing hardwood flooring throughout the entire first floor
- Open up the doorway from the new dinette to the front door area and install a new front entry door.
