Dark and Moody Hidden Home Office
The goal was to take a storage attic and create a private sanctuary that was inspired by the offices of Tommy Hilfiger in New York.
We were asked to create a space that had two dedicated working areas to allow this couple to work and be in a private space that would allow each of them to do the things they love. While one might read, the other might work, so we needed to create a space where technology and comfort became important.
We were challenged not to waste space and utilize every nook and cranny for every detail that may be needed. Oversized drawers were designed for the possibility that one day a grandchild may be able to rest or sleep in an oversize drawer while in the open position. A sleeper sofa was carefully curated to open and not touch the center staircase when extended.
The gold leafing in the ceiling was hand applied and surrounded by cove lighting to add reflectivity and elegance. The wallpaper in the separate nook was found while visiting a beautiful restaurant in Portugal.
The key is to listen to your clients, ask every question you can imagine, and take all that information and create a space that they dream of.
