After living in her home for 30+ years, this homeowner decided she was in need of an update. To begin, we took this 1,680 square foot house down to the studs and lifted it, which meant the ability to completely re-work the floorplan. The client considered this her “forever home”, which gave us the freedom to completely cater the design to her needs. In addition to this, she lives with two large dogs which meant we needed to select durable materials. We planned for custom dog gates to be installed with the downstairs railings, eliminating ugly baby gates and creating a functional addition to that wouldn’t take away from the overall design of the space. The client is a passionate cook, and decided she wanted two kitchens. This was also due to the fact that if in the future she were to live on one level of the home, her caretaker could live on the other. We installed grab bars with lovely detail in both of the bathrooms to allow for her to age in place. This home was an old bungalow style that was in need of more character. We were able to honor this by adding leaded glass details, a tongue and groove ceiling with faux beams adding much character to the space.
