Montecito Cottage
Efficient use of space, balanced with traditional elegance, define this new 800 sq. ft. guest house. The small but grand structure includes reclaimed French oak flooring installed in a herringbone pattern; hand made bathroom tile; windows and French doors made by local craftsmen; and, custom iron work. The cross-shaped footprint of the building allows every room multiple exposures and, combined with the central cupola and cathedral ceilings, provides abundant natural light throughout the space. A high pitched, open beam ceiling and an additional loft space make the living room look and feel like a much larger space than it is. Banks of French doors make a strong connection between inside and outside environments. (Architect: The Youngson Company)
