This Arlington, VA client wanted a previous, smaller addition to be torn down and replaced by a new three-level, L-shaped design build addition that wrapped around the existing home on two sides. So they turned to BOWA, the design build contractor, to discuss their dream home renovation.

On the upper level, tearing down the existing smaller addition eliminated a small office/bedroom at the back of the house and created a substantial space for a beautifully appointed master suite. The unique angles of the ceiling were specifically intended to compliment current roof lines and add visual interest. The truly distinctive feature of the master suite is an eagle’s nest, which serves as a map room for planning the owner’s boating trips and provides beautiful views of the Washington Monument.

On the main level, the new spacious addition allowed for a substantial kitchen renovation and expansion. A new family room, breakfast room and sunroom were also created along the back wall.

The expanded lower level features a mahogany and stone wine cellar and adjacent sitting room, a fully equipped home gym and a new one-car garage.

Carefully designed to blend with the existing Dutch colonial house, the renovation created the additional space the Arlington, VA homeowners so desired. The clients are beyond thrilled with their stunning, award-winning addition.
