When we first saw this space, we knew we had to add more engaging, educational activities for this family with one active fourteen month old boy and another baby on the way. One room was being used as a storage area and the other room only had a sofa and chairs in it. Because the toddler loves cars and trucks, we added a large building area with road and city decals which will encourage open-ended building and play. We designed and built the custom playhouse with a slide. Physical play promotes gross motor development and is especially important during the cold winter months, when outdoor time is limited. In the manipulative area, we added a lego wall, where both Duplo legos and smaller legos can be used. Lastly, in their kitchen, we added a magnetic board and play kitchen set to foster pretend play and exploration. Children, start your engines! It's time to play!
