Sensory Sensation
In designing the educational Playroom for the family in Scarsdale, New York, I focused on creating a cohesive design plan that. It includes dynamic and inclusive spaces tailored to the needs of the two young boys and tween girl. The captivating tween space features a cozy hanging chair, perfect for moments of relaxation and introspection, as well as a modern map to sprinkle in a little geography. For the younger boys, a dedicated toy storage manipulative area was incorporated, promoting organization and stimulating play. Catering to the sensory needs of one of the boys, careful attention was paid to lighting, colors, and overall aesthetic, ensuring a calming and comfortable environment. The highlight and centerpiece of the space was the custom-built two story fort with a tubular slide, climbing ninja movement and sensory nook, complete with a foam pit, providing endless opportunities for exploration and physical activity for all three children. Through a thoughtful blend of design elements and activities, the Playroom was transformed into a vibrant and enriching haven where each child could thrive and grow.
