Winner - 2014 Southwest Region CotY Award - Residential Exterior under $100k; Building a deck level to the family room gave the impression that the family room extended into the back yard and it also allowed us to design an over exaggerated stairway that could double as extra seating during big family gatherings. The steps were lit for safety.
A simple slate material set in a pattern helps define the lower patio level as a slightly more formal sitting area and the addition of the gas fireplace pit makes for a nice conversation piece.
The home is in a beach community and some members of the family enjoy surfing so we suggested installing an outdoor shower. As it turns out, the whole family also uses it for a pre-rinse to hot tub soak.
