Antioch Woods Kitchen
The existing kitchen was dated with unappealing finishes and a traditional layout with a compartmentalized feel. This separation forced the underutilization of the dining space as it lacked enough connection to the kitchen. In order to enlarge and open the new footprint, the wall separating the kitchen and dining room was removed, creating a more open and inclusive new space. The flow of the kitchen was improved by replacing the restrictive angled peninsula with a more efficient and purposeful design. This includes an L-shaped peninsula with ample seating and a farm sink, an accessory island for staging and food prep, and a feature wall with commercial grade appliances, and extensive storage. The custom window seat with built-in cabinetry and charging stations provide a unique space for the kids while dinner is being prepared. The new finishes include bright white perimeter cabinetry, with darker honed tops and a contrasting gray island with a custom antique pine top. The white, handmade subway tile with a crackle finish, balances out the brushed nickel fixtures, oil ribbed bronze hardware, and stainless steel appliances. The subtle tones of the stained hardwoods provide a warm base. Although the final product proved to be stunning, there were many challenges along the way.
