Elizabeth Kitchen
The owners of this 1920’s Craftsman Bungalow were looking for a major kitchen transformation that reflected their passion to cook and entertain. In order to expand the existing footprint and ease flow, the plan was to remove the peninsula and capitalize on the length of the home by incorporating a long L-shaped perimeter and central island. The existing family room would play a key role in the new design as a natural transition from the kitchen, featuring custom cabinetry storage, buffet staging, and a new upper transom illuminating an informal dinette, leading out to a backyard sanctuary. Some of the key features of this beautiful new kitchen include an alluring unpolished natural soapstone countertop and floor to ceiling subway tile, which acts as the backing of the custom inset cabinetry with glass fronts. The new pantry includes custom, site-built shelving, roll-outs, and foil rods, housed by a heavy duty steel barn door system. The show stopper is a commercial grade Bluestar range and custom hood with industrial brass trim, matching the fixtures and hardware of the rest of the space. The deep smokey, blue cabinetry finish is offset by a deliberate blend of natural, task, and accent lighting. When you walk into the new space, the purpose and professionalism of this efficient new kitchen compels you to put on an apron and prepare a restaurant quality meal!
