Monroe Bathroom

The owners of this country farmhouse were looking to create a more modern master bathroom, while maintaining the character of the rustic, farmhouse style. In addition to the outdated style and dimly lit feel, the owners needed additional storage and a more efficient use of space. In order to streamline the space, the separate vanities were combined into one run, allowing additional linen storage and bench seating in its place. We then eliminated the obtrusive tub deck and bulky shower unit, replacing them with a free-standing soaking tub and barrier-free frameless glass shower. By replacing the worn down hardwood floor, with a hand-scraped woodplank tile, we were able to achieve the desired look and feel of a rustic farmhouse, while incorporating a new material more suitable to a wet space. The floor tile was also continued up a newly framed ledge used to accentuate the feature tub. The rest of the bathroom features Divinity white shaker style cabinetry with a beadboard accent and custom framed mirrors. The oil rubbed bronze fixtures and hardware contrast the lightness of the cabinetry and shower tile. This is balanced by the earthy tone of the granite top and hand scraped plank tile floor. The new fixed window, with obscured glass, allows the perfect amount of natural light. This compliments the modern feel of new task and accent lighting, for a harmonious blend and brighter feel.
