When I was asked to design a kitchen for a previous boss, the expectations for success were high. They purchased the home less than a year ago, in hopes of remodeling the dated kitchen that had an inefficient traffic flow from the garage and compartmentalized layout. By removing the adjacent wall to the garage entrance, we created a open floor plan with functional square footage, for the homeowner's two large golden retrievers and soon to arriving newborn. To keep the character of the home with high ceilings and two story entry, we maintained the brick column, and crown molding, by accentuating the details with up lighting and paint. With the help of 3D conceptuals, my self-proclaimed "design challenged" clients had the ability to visualize the space and experience the kitchen before ever breaking ground.
