Seattle Powder Room
When a previous client in Seattle asked if I can assist with their main floor bathroom, I was happy to help! The room had a bathtub that did not include a shower head or full height tile surround, a small vanity and inefficient storage cavities over the stairs to the basement. The goals for the project included removing the non-functioning bathtub, increase the vanity size, and create a large closet to help with overflow storage for entertaining accessories and linen items. To brighten the space, we created a white painted wainscot to surround the room, and highlight the contrasting dark vanity. With the small space, I wanted to create a focal point with a basketweave faux marble mosaic floor, without the maintenance. As a real estate broker as well, I discussed with the homeowners that eliminating the tub would decrease the value of the home to a half bath, but because the main floor didn't have a bedroom, and the tub was inefficient as just a tub, they were very comfortable eliminating the tub and creating an inviting and updated powder room for guests.
