DC Small High Rise Kitchen
High rise kitchen in one bedroom DC apartment near the National Gallery of Art. Space was very limited and the kitchen was open to the living room. The size and shape of the island had to be determined very carefully. The water and power connection to the island is through the vertical wood beam in the foreground in the first picture. The refrigerator and freezer are side by side under the counter of the island allowing us to keep the sleek openness of the kitchen. The stainless steel standoffs support the extra floating counter top that helps with hiding any kitchen mess from the living room. The new lighting spread the light evenly along the island top. The matching cherry doors with the glass inserts were custom ordered to coordinate with the kitchen cabinet finish; they hide the washer and dryer.
