Springfield Cook's Kitchen

The client was adamant that she wanted a larger, prostyle range; we ended up deciding that the 36" made the most sense. The range allowed her to use larger baking sheets with the single wider oven. It was very important that she obtain a range that was made in the USA and made in her home state; the Bluestar custom range is made in Reading, PA and is a wonderful product. To make it all fit I convinced her that we needed to cover up the old redundant door and window. The result was very nice. We ended up with a very functional cook's kitchen and a great space to entertain.

Here is the completed, open concept kitchen; the door and window had been where the range is now and the wall at the peninsula.

Lots of easy access storage; the right peninsula cabinet opens from both sides and both are custom depths. The Hafele tall pull out is wonderful pantry storage.

Wider cabinets are always more cost effective but 36" wide drawers can be unmanageable; here we added some inexpensive dividers from the manufacturer to help with organization but only paid for one drawer mechanism. The roll outs were ordered with stronger supports figuring on heavy utensils.

Before photo shows the same shot as photo #1. The wall between the kitchen and dining room cuts off the space. The door and window have become redundant with the addition of an addition extending back from the dining room; there is a door from that family room out to the enclosed deck.
