Falconridge Lane Kitchen Remodel
This remodel focused primarily on the kitchen, with some additional work in a few other areas of the home. We gutted the kitchen and reconfigured the layout to improve the flow throughout the space and make it more efficient for our client. The cabinets above the peninsula made the kitchen feel closed off, so we removed them to create a clear sight line from the kitchen to the living room and make the space feel more open. We also shifted the locations of several appliances, moving the oven to the island under the stove, which created space for a mini bar, and fitting the microwave into the cabinetry under the counter to free up working space. Both the dishwasher and refrigerator were left in their original locations for ease of access. The dishwasher was in good working condition, so we reused it but chose to upgrade the refrigerator, microwave, and range. We also installed a new downdraft system with the range for better ventilation.
Before putting the kitchen back together, we made sure the electrical and plumbing in this space were up to current codes and then installed all-new, two-tone cabinetry, backsplash, countertops, lighting fixtures, and hardware to brighten up the space and create a contemporary style. Having a desk in the kitchen created an odd flow to the space, so we replaced it with floor-to-ceiling cabinets for increased storage.
In the rest of the house, we increased the can lighting in the master bedroom and living rooms and repainted the kitchen, living rooms, and ceiling where new can lights were installed. We refinished the wood floors and balusters and installed new base mould trim throughout the first level of the home, and refreshed the fireplaces with new front tiles, retaining the existing legs and mantle to preserve some of the character of the home.
