Mid-Century Modern Remodel
This award-winning remodel focused on maintaining the existing character of the home while creating a cohesive mid-century modern style throughout. To create this cohesion, we repainted the entire interior, refinished the floors, modernized all the surfaces, and updated the lighting and electrical work throughout the home. We also replaced many of the old windows with custom windows to increase the efficiency of the home.
An open-plan kitchen and living area were a priority for our client. The kitchen was previously narrow and closed off, inhibiting the functionality of the space. To open up the kitchen, we relocated the range, fridge, and sink and removed a wall, where we then installed a large island to provide additional counter space and seating. We put in all new appliances to introduce some of the modern conveniences the home had been missing, and added new cabinets to the kitchen nook, eliminating the dead space that previously lived there.
The bathroom was another area of focus for our client. We removed the tub/shower combo and replaced it with a walk-in curb-less tile shower with a pony wall. We added a half wall with glass at the end of the shower and installed a glass shower door. We also included blocking for future installation of grab bars. In addition, we did some reframing in the neighboring areas to allow for a wider vanity and inset cabinet to provide more storage in the small space.
Outside, we updated the lighting fixtures to increase visibility and provide more security for the client.
