We were asked to transform this small split level 1960's wood frame Boulder County home into a much more workable floor-plan and an addition for guest quarters. Also on the list of requirements was a larger garage and living space along with improved kitchen and an inviting entry.
We tied the enlarged garage with guest spaces above to the existing home, thereby creating a bridge and portal to frame the Rocky Mountain foothill views beyond. This new "portal" allowed for a slight bump-out of the entry and a brand new visible and inviting way to access the home.
While the construction was rather straightforward - a pop-top garage addition and push-out additions to living spaces, new trim, new windows, the enlarged and articulated mass and a fine colorful paint application have greatly added to the appeal of the house.
