I designed this modern house for my wife and I and our two children. It is classic modern design of a long-island school of whites inspiration. Based on a series of vividly inspired geometric volumes that at times break the rules with extensions and carved out forms. Solids and voids are present throughout and create positive and negative spaces that playoff against one another. Trim is sparsely employed, if at all; and always appears in pure white.
The purity of forms is enhanced by the planar look created by the smooth vertical redwood siding stained an already weathered silver grey. Homes by Charles Gwathemy, Robert AM Stern and Richard Meier on eastern Long Island have been my inspiration.
