Italian Villa

The Callaway Residence outside Denver, Colorado, never actually occupied by the original client due to divorce, was purchased by a previous client of ours, unbeknownst by either of us at the time. This was a most happy coincidence for the Corley family who appreciated this treasure of a Tuscan Villa twice over.
The ornate and well detailed residence projects just about every possible Italianate allusion in a different and distant time. Forms and spaces are all about the curve from Tuscan columns to arched windows and portals; from curved staircases to groin vaults and round towers. Materials, as well, are authentic with stone, stucco, and red clay tile roofs throughout. The interior displays real stone columns, arches, curved balconies, and wrought-iron railings. Truly a design of authenticity and love.

The front of this large Italianate design simply glistens at nightfall and gives hint to the old world trappings throughout. The round double height entry element , repetitious arched Renaissance windows, and cupola beyond are authentic allusions to building across the Mediterranean.

Looking into the Great Room and through the arches and stone columns, we can see the groin vault "four- poster" which carries the bowed balcony as a crown and the dramatic stairwell of the Foyer far beyond.
