This kitchen was more complicated than it looks. First, a load-bearing beam and conspicuous post was replaced with a hidden flush beam. Next, the original split-level layout of the kitchen was eliminated and a continuous level floor took its place. This further necessitated moving both a window and patio door up 7" to meet the new level of the floor. A site-finished dark-stained maple floor was added to match the flooring in the rest of the house. Finally IKEA cabinetry was added, faced with "Skinny Shaker" custom doors and drawer fronts by Allstyle.
