The Garden House
The design of this infill family home was driven by two guiding forces, the rear yard and the original home to be replaced. The rear yard consists of formal gardens which guided the plan focus. Interior spaces were organized in such a manner as to harmoniously reinforce the garden’s formal layout and create garden views from all primary living spaces. The beloved old family home which was replaced with this larger more modern structure provided the architectural design vocabulary. Scale, proportion, building form, and range of exterior materials were respectfully borrowed to create the owner’s new home.
