Cape Cod Retreat
Our client had renovated an antique cape located on the National Seashore. During the renovation they put an addition on the house that included a new kitchen/dining/lounge area as well as a generous deck space with a view of the wetlands. The materials & decoration within the new part of the home needed to marry with the architecture & decoration of the original portion of the house. The entire home needed to accommodate a young family, pets, and summer visitors.
The client’s stylistic preferences lean more contemporary, so we provided them with clean-lined low profile, comfortable furnishings to enhance & compliment the traditional interior architecture. The kitchen is not only open concept with the dining, living & lounge space but also visually open in that the upper cabinetry does not include cabinet door fronts. The island is a custom butcher block farm table work surface. There is a pantry off the kitchen as well as a mudroom with built-ins and a powder bath. We replicated existing trims, moldings and wall paneling throughout the original home. The colorful furnishings invoke the feeling of summer-the pale blues, oranges, and yellows. We created a kids reading nook out of an over-sized hallway closet. All fabrics & materials used are super durable to accommodate the high traffic use & daily living of the family & their guests.
