Our clients purchased a plantation-style home-perfect for their growing family. They intended to use every room…thought they wanted the spaces to be aesthetically luxurious they also wanted them to family friendly. Their preferred design style could be described as farmhouse/industrial with a bit of glamour. They wanted to add design features such as wood paneling-beadboard and butt board to different rooms in the home. They insisted on a large working kitchen and desperately needed the master suite redesigned as well. They have family & friends visiting often and entertain often as well requiring not only open social spaces but a separate more formal dining area & sitting area. We reconfigured the kitchen, reclaimed an exterior porch for the breakfast room as well as adding home office/workspace. We stole space from the hallway powder room to create a larger master bath & closet. We reconfigured the mudroom. We added pocket French doors to separate the formal dining room from the kitchen which remains open to the large breakfast room, the family room, and the office/workspace. We added a laundry room/wrapping room on the 2nd floor.
