THIS……had to be the world’s ugliest kitchen (disclaimer; it’s in my house). While it’s a big space at 16′x24′, the existing layout & cabinetry was atrocious. It was original to the house built in the 80′s, and we lived with it for almost 10 years (not by choice). Note the old 1/2 round arches that were built inside of every window & used extensively throughout the house…which are now gone.

I bartered all of the “new” cabinets & appliances with a client who was remodeling their kitchen. This route is not for the average homeowner, but I measured all the cabinets before committing to buy them to make sure I could reconfigure them within the existing space. Considering no new cabinets had to be bought, it turned out rather well. Even the granite counters were reused; only the island counter is new. The island cabinets were custom designed and built, created from (3) 24″ base cabinets from another project that I salvaged cabinets from, with new cabinets being built between to create a 10′ long island. The hood enclosure was custom designed and built as well. Big thanks to all those who worked every weekend for 6+ months straight….and to my wife and kids for living through it!
