Progression of Space
A tiny side vestibule and stairs up to a too-small kitchen congested the entry into this home. Working collaboratively with the owners, Meadowlark Builders created a design that yielded a larger light-filled kitchen, a spacious mudroom area with lots of storage and a seating bench, a full first floor master suite and a sitting porch at the back of the home.
Even with a substantial addition, the main floor of this home is just 896 square feet. But that doesn’t mean it has to feel small once you are inside. In this case, we created a framed opening at the center of the house through the new kitchen addition, mudroom and even to the back porch. This open progression of spaces with framed spaces expands the view and makes the overall spaces feel much larger.
Energy efficiency upgrades - including new windows, upgraded insulation and more efficient appliances – will make this home more comfortable and healthy to live in.
