The landscape originally designed by landscape architect, Elizabeth de Forrest in the 1940's was graced by meandering paths and native specimen boulders. The high water flowerbeds were replaced with mostly California natives to attract bees and better adapt to long dry spells and drought conditions typical in Santa Barbara's Mediterranean climate. The homeowner is a beekeeper and maintains a hive on the property. The plant palette was chosen to compliment the rich bronze exterior of the home and the warm colorful tones of the artwork installed throughout.
